Iran Asks US to Be Responsible for Implementation of Peace Deal
JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed the United States' responsibility for implementing the peace memorandum of understanding with Iran and a total cessation of Israeli military attacks on Lebanon.
Araghchi made the statement in separate conversations with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
Araghchi stated that his party had reviewed the process and clauses reached in the negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan.
He also appreciated the position and role of Turkey, Iran, and Egypt in supporting the ceasefire and easing tensions, as well as for diplomatic efforts to achieve regional stability and security.
The parties emphasized that all efforts should continue to continue to continue consultations on regional developments and strengthen diplomatic efforts to maintain security and stability.
Following the ceasefire since April 8, Iran and the United States began negotiations to permanently end the war through Pakistani mediation.
The draft memorandum of understanding that has been agreed upon at this time, based on the 14-point proposal of Tehran in the initial phase of the ceasefire, has been reviewed repeatedly over the past 60 days by both Iran and the United States.
With all the pressure, ceasefire violations, and changes in stance by the United States; Iran is adamant to maintain its stance.
Following the signing of the peace memorandum of understanding, the US and Iran will begin a series of further negotiations in the next 60 days to reach a comprehensive agreement on issues that have yet to reach a consensus.
