MG 07 Ready to Hit the Road, New Fastback Sedan with 650 Km Range
MG 07 is starting to show its existence ahead of the official launch after being listed in the tax exemption catalog for new energy vehicles in China. This fastback-style sedan is listed to have a range of up to 650 km and is MG's new step in expanding its product line.
The technical information of the vehicle has also been officially registered at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, as reported by Autohome. The presence of the MG 07 coincides with the positive trend in MG sales in the domestic market.
Based on China EV Dataracker data, the brand's wholesale sales in May 2026 reached 17,570 units, an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous month. The achievement continued the recovery of sales volume since February 2026 which was at the level of 7,017 units.
Launching Carnewschina, Tuesday, June 16, the MG 07 itself is projected to fill the vehicle segment with a price range of 150,000 yuan to 200,000 yuan. For the pure electric version, the MG 07 is equipped with a 67 kWh battery that offers two range options, namely 650 km and 610 km based on the CLTC testing standard. The power source comes from an electric motor placed on the rear wheel and produced by the Shanghai Automotive Gearbox Company with a maximum output of 176 kW. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid variant combines a 30 kWh battery with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with an output of 82 kW.
The system is combined with a 152 kW electric motor. With this configuration, the vehicle is capable of covering a distance of up to 185 km in pure electric mode based on the WLTC standard. In terms of technology, the MG 07 has been equipped with a lidar sensor installed on the vehicle's roof to support advanced driver assistance systems.
This car is the first model to adopt the Momenta R7 intelligent driving platform powered by the X7 special chip. The system uses an advanced level world model framework that is capable of processing various driving variables in real-time, thus strengthening the autonomous technology capabilities offered by MG.
In terms of design, the MG 07 has a strong fastback character. The roof line flows smoothly to the rear glass and is connected to a large panoramic glass roof. At the front, the car carries a C-shaped headlight that is the latest MG design identity, combined with a wide-spanning lower air intake.
The exterior appearance is more modern thanks to the use of semi-hidden door handles that are flush with the body and special alloy rims. MG also prepares an exclusive Morello Purple color to emphasize the visual identity of this sedan, especially on the back which has a typical fastback vehicle profile.
