Prabowo and Mahmoud Abbas Discuss the Latest Developments in Palestine

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday night to discuss the latest developments and reaffirm support for the Palestinian people's struggle.

The Secretary of the Cabinet (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya said that Indonesia will continue to stand with Palestine and this was reiterated when President Prabowo received a phone call from the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, tonight, showing the close relationship between the two countries which have been forged in the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"In the discussion, President Mahmoud Abbas conveyed the latest developments in Palestine and expressed appreciation for Indonesia's consistent support for the Palestinian people," said the Presidential Secretariat, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 16.

He explained that on that occasion President Mahmoud Abbas also expressed his hope that Indonesia would continue to play an active role in supporting the Palestinian people's struggle.

"According to President Abbas, Indonesia's voice and leadership under President Prabowo has a significant meaning and has received widespread attention in various international forums," said the Presidential Secretariat.

Until now, he said, President Prabowo has also been known to consistently provide real support to Palestine, including since he served as Minister of Defense.

Several steps have been taken to support the Palestinian people's struggle, including by sending logistics by air and sea, sending hospital ships and health workers, sending 100 Palestinian children to study at the University of Defense, and Indonesia's firm support in various world forums.

The Presidential Chief of Staff, Teddy, said that in response to this, President Prabowo reiterated Indonesia's commitment to continue to support the Palestinian people's struggle and encourage the realization of a just and dignified peace.

Indonesia's support for Palestine is a constitutional mandate as well as a reflection of Indonesia's foreign policy consistency in favor of independence, humanity, and world peace.

Through the communication of the two leaders, Indonesia reiterated its position to continue to stand with the Palestinian people in fighting for their rights.
