The price of Kitchen Seasoning in Jakarta has jumped by almost 13 percent, the DKI Provincial Government has prepared a market operation.
JAKARTA - The prices of a number of kitchen seasoning commodities in Jakarta markets have started to creep up. The sharpest increase occurred in garlic, which in the past week jumped almost 13 percent.
Data from the DKI Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) monitoring food prices as of Sunday, June 14, 2026, recorded the price of garlic increased by Rp4,949 per kilogram or 12.9 percent. From the previous Rp38,371 per kilogram, it now reaches Rp43,320 per kilogram.
Head of the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM Office Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said the spike in the price of garlic was the highest increase compared to other kitchen seasoning commodities monitored by the government.
"The increase in the price of garlic is the highest among all monitored kitchen commodities," Ratu said in a statement, Monday, July 15.
In addition to garlic, the price of chili also shows an upward trend. Large red chilies were recorded to have increased by 3.2 percent to Rp69,400 per kilogram from the previous Rp67,250 per kilogram.
Then, the price of red chili increased by Rp1,300 per kilogram or 1.65 percent to Rp80,300 per kilogram. "Meanwhile, green chili rose by Rp634 per kilogram or 1.03 percent, to Rp61,917 per kilogram," said Ratu.
Although a number of commodities have increased, the results of monitoring also show that some types of chili have actually decreased in price. Curly red chili has decreased by Rp605 per kilogram or 1.07 percent to Rp55,850 per kilogram.
The largest decrease occurred in large green chili which fell by Rp5,000 per kilogram or 11.43 percent to Rp38,750 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of onions tends to be stable with a slight correction of 0.26 percent to Rp58,117 per kilogram.
Responding to the price turmoil, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a number of intervention steps through the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID). Efforts to be carried out include market operations on commodities that have experienced significant increases, strengthening the distribution of food to the people's market, to ensure that supplies from the production center area remain smooth.
"We will strengthen coordination through TPID to maintain price stability and availability of supplies. Interventions will be carried out through market operations and strengthening the distribution of commodities to people's markets so that supplies remain smooth and prices can be immediately controlled," he explained.
The DKI Provincial Government will also work with a number of food SOEs and BUMD such as Bulog, ID FOOD, Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, and Perumda Pasar Jaya to maintain the availability of strategic commodities in the market.
According to the Queen, monitoring food prices and stocks will continue to be carried out every day to anticipate potential price increases ahead of the period of increased community consumption.
"We ensure that strategic food stocks in Jakarta are still in a safe condition. The government will continue to be present to maintain the balance of supply and affordability so that people's needs are still met," he added.
