Vaccination Of Tanjung Priok Port Workers, Jokowi: Very Busy Here

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo visited the implementation of vaccination for maritime communities at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, this morning.

During his review, Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

This vaccination is the second phase of the national vaccination program targeting public service workers. In his remarks, Jokowi said that Tanjung Priok Port is the busiest port in Indonesia.

"This morning I visited the Port of Tanjung Priok. We know that it is the largest and busiest port in Indonesia, serving passenger ships, serving cargo ships, domestically and internationally. As well as being a very important liaison infrastructure in distributing logistics throughout the country. Indonesia. Therefore, this morning we are vaccinating," Jokowi said on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Thursday, June 10.

According to Jokowi, the mobility or movement of people in Jakarta's coastal port is very high. As a result, the potential for COVID-19 transmission at Tanjung Priok Port is also high.

"We know that the mobility of people here, the mobility of goods, is very high. The possibility of contracting COVID is also very high because of interactions with ship passengers, interactions with crew members on board," he said.

Therefore, vaccinations carried out to 1,500 people, namely port workers, loading and unloading workers, drivers, assistants, and other public servants at Tanjung Priok Port, can prevent the transmission of the corona virus.

"We hope that by having these workers vaccinated, they can be protected from COVID," he said.

Previously, Jokowi reviewed the mass vaccination for transportation actors and the public which was held at the Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal, East Jakarta.

Vaccinations in Rambutan Village targeted around 1,000 people, namely drivers, assistants, as well as small and micro businesses in the terminal and its surroundings.
