Minister of Communication and Information invites the younger generation to increase vigilance against digital crimes

MEDAN - Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid invites all elements of society, especially the younger generation, to continue to increase vigilance from the dangers of digital world crime.

"The digital space today is filled with various types of content, both those with many benefits and those with bad ones," said Meutya Hafid in Medan, North Sumatra, Sunday.

According to him, digital crimes that often target the younger generation must be the attention of all elements of society because realizing a safe digital space requires the role and contribution of all individuals.

"Considering that most internet usage activities are also carried out personally in private spaces," he said.

Therefore, the former Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives invited the younger generation to be wiser and smarter in using the internet in the era of current technological development.

He said social media content could affect people's views and behavior if it was not used carefully and wisely.

"The internet is like a double-edged sword. It has many benefits, but also many bad impacts if it is not used wisely," he said.

In increasing vigilance against digital crimes, Meutya said that the ministry he leads would strengthen people's digital literacy with various efforts.

"Digital literacy is one of the tasks of the Ministry of Communication and Information to reduce and prevent digital crimes. We will encourage the public, especially the younger generation, to become ambassadors of healthy internet," he said.
