Minangkabau Residents Watch the Case of Alleged Abu Janda Hate Speech at North Jakarta Police English:
JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Minangkabau Family Association (IKM) continues to monitor its report against Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda at the North Jakarta Metro Police on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
"We continue to support and follow up on every report we make to investigators so that it can be followed up in accordance with the law," said the legal department of the North Jakarta IKM DPD, Tjahya Indra Alamsati when confirmed, Sunday.
According to him, the report against Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda was made to give a deterrent effect to the reporter who said 'the West Sumatra tribe is barbaric'. The sentence offended the Minangkabau ethnic group in the North Jakarta area.
"Let there be a deterrent effect, if there is no deterrent effect, sometimes people don't feel scared. Hopefully it can run smoothly," he said.
He said that if Permadi Arya's actions alias Abu Janda were left alone and did not fall within the scope of the law, it could threaten the sense of unity in this country.
"In the North Jakarta DPD, there are many DPCs, which we are worried about later if there is an anarchist act that is dangerous," he said.
Previously, the Chairman of the North Jakarta IKM DPD, Dhian Aulia, reported Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda to the North Jakarta Metro Police according to LP/B/1291/VI/2026/SPKT/Polres Metro Jakarta Utara/Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
His party brought a flash drive containing a softcopy recording of Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda's statement as evidence for their report.
"The case is hate speech that has been delivered by Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda," Dhian Aulia told reporters at the North Jakarta Police Headquarters.
Dhian said, Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda conveyed it through social media so that it reached the people in Indonesia.
"In that case he said hate speech. 'West Sumatra people, West Java people are a group of barbarians'. That kind of language is very painful for us who come from West Sumatra," he said.
Dhian strongly condemned the statement made by Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda because at this time the Indonesian government is encouraging efforts for togetherness, morality and unity and national unity. However, this is being damaged and tainted by provocative language through hate speech like that.
"This is really unacceptable, and this is a form of disrespect to the Indonesian nation," he said.
Dhian asked Minangkabau residents in North Jakarta to remain conducive because his party had reported Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda to law enforcement officers.
He said that in the North Jakarta area there was no intolerance between any ethnic groups, all lived side by side. Permadi Arya's statement alias Abu Janda is prone to potential provocations and divisions.
"There is no (intolerance) in North Jakarta, we live in peace and harmony with all groups, groups and all ethnic groups in the North," he said.
