Central Java Police Find 1,387 TB Suspects in a Week
SEMARANG - The police are not only tasked with maintaining security and prosecuting perpetrators of crimes. In Central Java, thousands of Bhabinkamtibmas personnel are now involved in efforts to combat tuberculosis (TB) by accompanying health workers to track residents who are at risk of exposure to the disease.
Through the Find, Treat and Cure Tuberculosis (TOSS TB) Program, the Central Java Police recorded as many as 1,387 suspected or suspected pulmonary TB patients who were found during the tracing period from June 3-10, 2026.
Head of the Health and Social Services of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol drg. Agung Hadi W. said that this achievement shows the role of Bhabinkamtibmas as a TB Tracer to start being effective in expanding early detection of tuberculosis cases in the community.
"In the first week of tracing implementation, as many as 1,387 suspects have been traced. This shows the real contribution of Bhabinkamtibmas in supporting early detection of TB," he said, Saturday (13/6).
In addition to tracking close contacts of TB patients, Bhabinkamtibmas also provides education to the community regarding the importance of early examination and compliance with treatment until completion.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Artanto, said that this achievement was proof that the presence of the National Police in the community was not only related to law enforcement, but also supported humanitarian and public health programs.
The Central Java Police are committed to continue to encourage the implementation of tracing, education, and assistance to the community related to TB to the village and sub-district levels to support the acceleration of tuberculosis elimination.
