Saturday Night Sangihe Islands Earthquake Not Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - A magnitude 3.1 to 4.5 earthquake on Saturday night, several times shook the Tahuna District area in the Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi.

Quoted from the upload of the X BMKG social media account (@infoBMKG), the latest earthquake was recorded at 23:32 WIB with a magnitude of 3.1.

The earthquake is located at coordinates 5.42 degrees north latitude and 125.32 degrees east longitude, about 202 kilometers northwest of Tahuna District, Sangihe Islands, with a depth of 10 kilometers. According to BMKG, the earthquake has no potential to cause a tsunami.

Previously, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi at 22.45 WIB.

The earthquake was located at coordinates 5.30 degrees north latitude and 125.30 degrees east longitude (BT) at a distance of about 188 kilometers from the northwest of Tahuna District, Sangihe Islands Regency, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

Then, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 with a depth of 10 kilometers and 3.2 with a depth of 42 kilometers occurred, which occurred at 22.30 WIB and 22.02 WIB respectively. According to BMKG, all recorded earthquakes are not tsunami-potential.
