PLN Denies Blackout Issue in Jamali Region
JAKARTA - Viral in cyberspace about the potential blackout in the Java, Madura, to Bali (Jamali) areas due to the coal supply crisis in a number of Steam Power Plants (PLTU) made PLN speak up.
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL PT PLN (Persero), Gregorius Adi Trianto, emphasized that the issue was completely untrue. According to him, the electricity system in the Java region is currently in a safe condition and is monitored normally.
"PLN conveys that currently the Java electricity system is operating and well controlled, although there are operational constraints that have an impact on reducing electricity supply in a number of areas," Gregorius said in an official statement, Friday (12/6).
He added that management was moving quickly in the field to minimize the impact of the disruption on the wider community.
"PLN continues to work intensively to maintain the reliability of electricity supply and provide the best service to all customers," he said.
PLN specifically highlighted the panic that had spread among the public due to rumors of a total blackout. Gregorius asked residents not to immediately swallow information that was not clear about its source.
"Responding to information circulating in the community regarding the blackout, PLN confirms that the condition does not occur," he said.
Although denying the blackout issue, PLN still apologized for the rotating blackout or operational constraints that residents had felt at several points recently.
"PLN apologizes for the inconvenience experienced by customers," he said.
