Indonesian Embassy in Japan invites Indonesian citizens to strengthen unity and collaboration with Japanese citizens at IJFF 2026

JAKARTA - In order to facilitate access and expand the reach of services for the Indonesian people, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo throughout 2026 held a number of activities in various prefectures in Japan.

On June 6-7, 2026, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo held a consular service, citizen meeting, and immigration service in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.

This activity was carried out as part of the Indonesia-Japan Friendship Festival (IJFF) 2026 which was held by the Toyota Indonesia Group (TIG) and the Toyota Intercultural Association (TIA).

Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan Maria Renata Hutagalung in her remarks explained that the implementation of the Indonesia - Japan Friendship Day in Toyota is an important part of the collaboration between the two countries' communities in promoting Indonesia among Japanese citizens.

Including, according to the Indonesian Embassy, Maria Renata, in maximizing the service and protection of Indonesian citizens in Aichi Prefecture.

"Through this event we can enjoy various activities. Starting from international cultural and culinary festivals, to seminars, career consultations, and community services. Our appreciation to the organizers who have provided a warm interaction space for Japanese and Indonesian citizens as well as other international communities," he explained, launching the statement of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo (12/6).

"For Indonesian citizens, Toyota City is not only a center of industry but also a home for Indonesians to study, work and build the future. Toyota City is a symbol of the close cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. In a world that is increasingly connected, international friendship is not only built by the Government, but also by the people. Through daily interaction, cooperation and mutual understanding," said the Indonesian Ambassador accompanied by the Immigration Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Arya Pradhana Anggakara and the Third Secretary of the Consular Protocol Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Nadya Nabila Hayanto.

Present in this 2026 2026, among others, Deputy Mayor of Toyota Kunie Tsuji; Honorary Consul (Konhor) Nagoya Sugimoto Hideo; Vice Chairman of TIA Motoaki Sugiyama; and TIG Chairman Nurheri Yahya.

After the opening of the 2026 IJFF event, the Indonesian Embassy in Japan held a meeting with a number of Japanese officials, including Deputy Mayor of Toyota Kunie Tsuji, and Honorary Consul (Konhor) Nagoya Sugimoto Hideo.

The meeting discussed the improvement of cooperation between Indonesia and Toyota City in various fields. Especially related to employment and cultural arts as well as efforts to protect Indonesian citizens.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people crowded the Toyota Stadium which is the venue for the 2026 IJFF. Visitors were seen enjoying a selection of Indonesian dances such as Bali Cenderawasih Dance, Maumere Dance, and Sinanggar Tulo Dance.

The event was also enlivened by fashion exhibitions and dangdut music. The appearance of the Indonesian pop rock group ST12 was also able to attract the enthusiasm of visitors, while they enjoyed the culinary delights of the archipelago.

In addition, around 600 Indonesian citizens were present to receive immigration and consular services. Of these, the Tokyo Embassy team has provided consular services for a total of 24 people. The consular services provided include registration of foreign births, marriages, and legalization of documents. There is also financial consultation. Immigration services include passport management of 517 passports.

The Indonesian Embassy also attended the Nagoya and surrounding community meeting which consisted of business people, students, academics, mosque and church managers, as well as representatives from various Indonesian communities in Aichi Prefecture.

During the meeting, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo asked Indonesian citizens to foster harmony and help each other. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is also always ready to provide support and protection for Indonesian citizens in Aichi Prefecture.
