Regarding the Notification Letter for the Demonstration at HI Roundabout: The BEM UI Chairman Said It Was, But the Police Admitted They Hadn't

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that until Friday, June 12, 2026 afternoon, it had not received a notification letter regarding the student action plan whose information was circulating on social media.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said that his party had checked a number of units, namely the Depok Metro Police, the Metro Jaya Police Intelligence Directorate, and the Central Jakarta Metro Police. The results, no notification letter for the action as claimed in the upload has been found.

"Until 17.34 WIB, we have checked at the Depok Metro Police, the Directorate of Intelkam of the Metro Jaya Police, and the Central Jakarta Metro Police. We have not received any notification letter regarding today's delivery of aspirations," Budi told the media, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 12, 2026.

Budi explained that information regarding the student action notification letter was first known through social media patrols carried out by the police. In the upload it was stated that the notification letter had been sent to the Polda Metro Jaya.

"We received information from social media patrols that someone had sent a notification letter to the Polda Metro Jaya. We need to say, so far we have not received the notification letter," he said.

In previous reports, the Chairman of the UI BEM, Yatalathof Ma'sgum Imawan alias Athof expressed his disappointment at the unilateral blockade action by the guards.

He claimed to have sent an official notification letter to hold an action at HI Roundabout, but the plan was actually broken by the police and shifted the location of the demonstration.

"Everything was intercepted. We were also forced to demonstrate in the DPR. Although we planned and sent a letter to the Police to hold an action at the HI roundabout," he said.

Until the evening, thousands of people were still staying at the location to voice their demands to the government of President RI Prabowo Subianto.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jakarta Central Metro Police, Kombes Reynold Hutagalung, has not been confirmed regarding the current situation in the area.
