German President to Visit Indonesia on June 15 Next Week
JAKARTA - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay a state visit to Indonesia on June 15 with a major agenda to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
"We are committed to being a long-term partner with Indonesia that is ready to overcome future challenges together," said German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 12.
"The main message of this visit is clear: Germany is a strong and reliable partner for Indonesia," Beste said, adding.
The German Ambassador explained that President Steinmeier's visit was based on Germany's desire to strengthen partnerships with strong developing countries, such as Indonesia.
Moreover, as the largest country in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is an important partner for Germany in the region, said the Ambassador.
Furthermore, Beste said President Steinmeier's visit on June 15 will last one day.
In addition to his main agenda to meet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the German President will visit the Istiqlal Mosque and the Jakarta Cathedral by passing through the Silaturahmi Tunnel which connects the two places of worship.
Ambassador Beste revealed that the German President will also hold meetings and discussions with the Indonesian intellectual and research community during his visit on Monday.
"In the meeting, they will discuss how Indonesia sees the current world changes in a geostrategic way," said the German Ambassador.
He said Germany is the largest economy in Europe with a reliable legal system and sustainable investment in sustainable development and clean energy.
With this capital, the German President will be accompanied by a business delegation representing various business sectors in Germany, such as logistics, mobility, and industrial equipment, as well as representatives from the cultural and science and technology sectors during his visit to Indonesia next week.
He also conveyed the hope that President Prabowo could reciprocate President Steinmeier's visit this time by making a reciprocal visit to Germany.
"We hope that the visit of the German President this time can be reciprocated later," said Ambassador Beste.
