UI BEM Demo, Jalan Layang Semanggi Closed and Sudirman Traffic diverted to Kuningan

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) temporarily closed the Semanggi Flyover towards HI Roundabout and diverted vehicle traffic from General Sudirman Street to the Kuningan area.

This closure was carried out following the increasing density of the mass action demonstration of the BEM UI and a number of community elements around the HI roundabout area.

Traffic arrangements were implemented from noon to afternoon in the Semanggi-Sudirman-Bundaran HI corridor. The closure of the Semanggi Flyover towards Bundaran HI was carried out starting at 14.00 WIB.

Furthermore, at 14.45 WIB, vehicles from Semanggi and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman heading to HI Roundabout were diverted through Jalan Gatot Subroto towards Kuningan.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Budi Awaluddin asked the public to avoid the road sections affected by traffic arrangements and adjust their travel.

"We appeal to the public who will pass through the Semanggi, Sudirman, to HI roundabout areas to adjust their travel routes and use the available alternative routes. Transportation Service officers together with related elements continue to make arrangements on the ground so that public mobility continues to run safely and smoothly," said Budi in his statement, Friday, June 12.

Dishub has prepared a number of alternative routes for motorists who want to go to HI Roundabout. Vehicles can pass through the Senayan Roundabout area or use the Kuningan-HR Rasuna Said-Menteng route before heading to HI Roundabout.

In addition to traffic engineering, mass action in the central area of Jakarta also has an impact on public transportation operations. A number of Transjakarta services were temporarily stopped, diverted, and shortened because a number of roads could not be passed by bus fleets.

The routes that were temporarily stopped include 6A Ragunan-City Hall via Kuningan, 1B Palmerah Station-Tosari, 1N Tanah Abang-Block M, 1P Senen-Block M, and the BW4 IRTI-Senayan Roundabout tourist bus.

Meanwhile, the services that experienced route diversion include Corridor 1 Block M-Kota and route 9D Pasar Minggu-Tanah Abang. The routes that were shortened include 6B Ragunan-City Hall via Semanggi, 1W Block M-Ancol, 4C Pulogadung-Senayan Roundabout, 6D Tebet Station-Senayan Roundabout via Underpass, and T31 PIK 2-Block M.

Budi also asked public transportation users to pay attention to operational information before departure so that they can adjust the travel route.
