Begal, Curanmor Motor to Car, Three Major Cases Revealed by the Riau Police Overnight

PEKANBARU - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police through the Jatanras Resmob Team has uncovered three prominent criminal cases in a series of operations carried out on June 10-11, 2026.

The three cases include robbery with violence (begal), motorcycle theft syndicate, and theft of four-wheeled vehicles which have long troubled the community in the Pekanbaru City area and Kampar Regency.

Director of Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police, Kombes Hasyim Risahondua, said that the success was the result of an intensive investigation conducted by the Jatanras Resmob Team against a number of police reports and public information.

"In one series of operations, the team managed to uncover three prominent cases at once. Starting from the begal case which resulted in the victim being shot, the network of motorcycle theft across regions, to the theft of four-wheeled vehicles. This shows our commitment to taking firm action against any form of crime that disturbs the community," said Kombes Hasyim, Friday, June 12.

Kombes Hasyim explained that the first case that was successfully revealed was a criminal act of robbery with violence which occurred on Jalan Datuk Wan Abdul Jamal, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, on June 3, 2026.

The Riau Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate through the Jatanras Resmob Team managed to uncover three prominent criminal cases in a series of operations carried out on June 10-11, 2026.

In this case, the police secured three suspects with initials MM alias UD, AH, and RR alias Black.

"The three are suspected of being involved in a robbery against a motorcyclist who was passing in the early morning," explained Kombes Hasyim.

The perpetrators ambushed the victim using a motorcycle. When the victim tried to defend his vehicle, one of the perpetrators stabbed the victim with a machete until he suffered torn wounds on his arms and thighs.

"After that, the perpetrators took away the victim's motorcycle and valuables," he said.

Apart from the begal case, the Jatanras Resmob Team also managed to dismantle a motorcycle theft syndicate that was suspected of having acted in a number of locations in Kampar Regency and Pekanbaru City.

In this case, the police secured four suspects, namely MS, SH, P, and TS.

From the results of the examination, it was found that the group had several times committed motor vehicle theft in residential areas, plantations and business locations.

Kabubdit Jatanras Polda Riau, AKBP Rooy Noor revealed that the perpetrators have different roles ranging from executors, transporters of stolen vehicles to couriers.

"From the hands of the suspects, we managed to secure a number of vehicles as a result of the crime, including a motorcycle that was reported missing from a house in Tambang District, Kampar Regency," said AKBP Rooy.

The development of the investigation also revealed the involvement of the group in a number of other motorcycle theft acts that occurred in the Gunung Sahilan, Air Tiris, Rimbo Panjang, Garuda Sakti, Panam and several other locations.

Meanwhile, continued Rooy, the third case that was successfully revealed was the theft of a four-wheeled vehicle with the main suspect with the initials SG.

From the results of the examination, the suspect admitted to being involved in several cases of theft of four-wheeled vehicles in the Kampar and Pekanbaru areas.

"Some of the vehicles that were successfully secured by investigators include one unit of Toyota Kijang Super, one unit of Daihatsu Zebra and one unit of Suzuki Carry which are suspected to have come from the results of the crime of theft," said AKBP Rooy.

Kombes Hasyim emphasized that until now his party was still deepening the sales network of stolen vehicles, including the possibility of the involvement of other parties who played a role as a facilitator or intermediary.

In the overall disclosure, the Jatanras Resmob Team managed to secure a total of 15 units of crime vehicles consisting of 12 units of motorcycles and three units of cars.

"This disclosure is still being developed. We suspect that there are still other perpetrators involved and it is still being pursued," said Kombes Hasyim.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code concerning theft and Article 479 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence as regulated in Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

Dirreskrimum emphasized that the Riau Police would continue to increase efforts to eradicate street crime and motor vehicle theft through investigative activities, patrols, and measurable law enforcement.

"We want to ensure that the public feels safe. There is no room for perpetrators of begal, theft of motor vehicles and other forms of street crime in the Riau Regional Police's jurisdiction," he said.
