Minister of Public Works: 2027 Budget Realized to Become Quality Infrastructure

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that the PU Ministry's budget in 2027 must be realized into quality infrastructure services for the community.

"The PU Ministry's budget must be realized into services to the public in the form of optimal irrigation, connected roads, safe bridges, affordable drinking water for all people, managed sanitation, and public facilities that are worthy of being used by all people in Indonesia," said Dody in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.

The Ministry of PU proposes a budget requirement of IDR 219.81 trillion for the 2027 Fiscal Year to ensure that the development and basic infrastructure services for the community continue to run optimally.

From these needs, the indicative ceiling set by the government reached Rp98.47 trillion.

According to Dody, productivity cannot be separated from the availability of well-functioning infrastructure in the field. Farmers need a reliable irrigation network, business actors need adequate road connectivity, while the community needs access to clean water and decent sanitation.

"Investment and industry also do not grow above plans alone. Both require connectivity, raw water, organized areas, disaster risk control and reliable basic services," he said.

Dody stated that the indicative ceiling value of IDR 98.47 trillion will be used for various priority infrastructure programs, including for the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks, road and bridge maintenance.

Then the construction of a suspension bridge, expansion of drinking water services, improvement of sanitation and waste management, construction of educational facilities, to post-disaster handling.

"We understand very well that state budgeting requires caution. Therefore, we convey this need openly, measured, based on the function of public infrastructure services," he said.

Dody explained that the largest allocation from the indicative ceiling was directed to the Strategic Infrastructure sector, namely IDR 31.53 trillion.

This is to support national priority programs such as the construction of People's Schools, the rehabilitation and renovation of religious schools, and part of the handling of public infrastructure in post-disaster areas in Sumatra.

Then in the Water Resources sector, an allocation of Rp. 25.44 trillion was allocated for the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks, flood control development, Community-Based Infrastructure (IBM) programs or Acceleration of Improvement of Irrigation Water Management (P3-TGAI), and post-disaster infrastructure handling.

Meanwhile, the Road Construction sector was allocated Rp. 29.24 trillion for the construction and capacity increase of roads, the construction and replacement of bridges, the construction of flyovers and underpasses, suspension bridges, and the preservation of roads and bridges.

Meanwhile, the Creative Works sector was allocated Rp. 11.07 trillion for the construction of the expansion of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), wastewater management and sampling, the development of strategic national areas, and the handling of basic service infrastructure in post-disaster areas.

The Ministry of PU assessed that the Budget Work Plan will be a determining factor in maintaining and expanding the basic infrastructure services needed by the community while supporting the national economic growth target in 2027.
