AutoFlight Receives eVTOL Certification in Indonesia, First Outside China

Jakarta - Chinese electric aircraft manufacturer AutoFlight has made a significant step in the overseas market. Citing a China Daily report, Friday, June 12, the company's V2000CG CarryAll electric cargo plane received type certificate validation from the Directorate General of Air Transportation of Indonesia.

eVTOL is an electric aircraft that can take off and land vertically, similar to a helicopter, but using electricity. The V2000CG CarryAll is designed to carry cargo.

This approval is the first in the world for an eVTOL aircraft to receive type certificate validation from aviation authorities outside its country of origin.

Type certificate validation means that the aviation authority recognizes that the aircraft design and specifications meet the technical requirements for use. In this case, the certification confirms that the V2000CG meets the airworthiness requirements of China and Indonesia.

Airworthiness is a status that aircraft are deemed safe and suitable for flight according to flight rules.

"This milestone builds the operational foundation for commercial eVTOL services in Southeast Asia and advances our global expansion strategy," AutoFlight said in a statement quoted by China Daily.

According to China Daily, this approval comes as eVTOL developers in various countries compete to bring electric aircraft to commercial service. The market is vast, from passenger air taxis to cargo delivery.

The V2000CG is currently said to be the only ton-class eVTOL that holds three major Chinese airworthiness certifications.

Certification from Indonesia is an important step for AutoFlight in expanding the commercialization of eVTOL technology in the international market.
