BPK Supports Strengthening Bulog's Governance to Be Accountable and Control Self-sufficiency

JAKARTA - The Financial Audit Agency (BPK) supports the strengthening of the role of Perum Bulog in realizing national food self-sufficiency through accountable, transparent, and community-oriented governance.

"BPK fully supports various government programs carried out by Bulog in realizing sustainable food self-sufficiency," said BPK RI VII Head Slamet Edy Purnomo in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.

Slamet emphasized this when reviewing the harvest activities and the readiness of Bulog infrastructure in Karawang Regency, West Java, Thursday (11/6), accompanied by the President Director (Dirut) of Perum Bulog Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani.

Slamet said that the visit was a form of support from the BPK RI for the government's program in realizing sustainable food self-sufficiency supported by transparent, accountable, and community-oriented governance.

"We express our appreciation for Bulog's achievements in successfully carrying out a strategic role in strengthening national food security," he said.

According to Slamet, Bulog's success in increasing the absorption of farmers' rice and rice is one of the important indicators of the government's program's success in maintaining food availability while improving farmers' welfare.

"In addition to excellent procurement achievements, we also see a strong commitment to building accountable, transparent, and responsible governance," said Slamet.

According to him, this is an important foundation so that the national food program can run effectively and provide optimal benefits for farmers and the community.

He added that the BPK would continue to carry out its oversight and inspection functions constructively to ensure that the management of state finances in the food sector runs in accordance with the principles of good governance and supports the success of national strategic programs.

The activity was initiated by a mass harvest with farmers in Mekarjaya Village, Karawang Regency, one of the national rice production centers.

On this occasion, the Head of BPK RI VII and the Director of Bulog had a direct dialogue with the Karawang Forkopimda and farmers to see the development of national rice production and the implementation of the absorption of domestic grain and rice carried out by Bulog.

Meanwhile, Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the support and escort from the BPK RI were an important part of strengthening public confidence in the management of national food.

Rizal said Bulog continued to be committed to carrying out government assignments by prioritizing good governance, accountability, and professionalism.

"We believe that sustainable food self-sufficiency can only be achieved through collaboration between all stakeholders and transparent and responsible management," said Rizal.

After the harvest, the entourage continued their visit to the Purwasari II Bulog Warehouse to review the storage and management system of the Government Rice Reserve (CBP). The leadership of VII BPK RI saw firsthand the readiness of Bulog's warehousing facilities and infrastructure in maintaining the quality, quantity, and security of national food stocks.

The visit was then continued to the Bulog Rice Milling Center (SPP). On this occasion, the entourage reviewed the process of processing grain into rice, the implementation of quality standards, and the use of technology that supports operational efficiency and strengthening the national food supply chain.

"Through this visit, the BPK RI and Bulog emphasize the importance of synergy between state institutions in supporting the realization of sustainable national food self-sufficiency," said Rizal.

In addition to ensuring food availability for the community, Rizal added, strengthening accountable governance is also an important factor to maintain public confidence and ensure the sustainability of the national food program in the long term.
