Free Private Schools in Tangerang Solution to Overcome Quota Limitations

Tangerang - The Tangerang City DPRD asked the Education Service to be more massive in the socialization of the free private elementary and junior high school program in order to overcome the limitations of quotas in state schools.

Member of the Tangerang City DPRD Syamsuri in Tangerang, Friday said that the capacity of state schools still has limitations compared to the number of prospective students who apply every year.

Therefore, the Tangerang City DPRD encourages the optimization of the free private school program with financing support through the APBD.

"We encourage the use of private schools that work with local governments through APBD support, so that the public can still access affordable and even free education," he said.

The Tangerang City DPRD, continued Syamsuri, has held a public hearing with the Tangerang City Education Office to ensure that all mechanisms for implementing SPMB are well understood and openly communicated to the public.

Therefore, the DPRD pays attention to the readiness of technology infrastructure which is the main support for the registration process.

The Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) so that all devices and systems used can operate optimally during the registration period.

Because the success of the implementation of SPMB is not only measured by the smoothness of the administrative and technical processes, but also by the extent to which the system is able to provide equal opportunities for all prospective students to obtain quality education services.

"With the readiness of good devices and systems, we hope that the registration process can run smoothly according to what the public expects," he said.

It is worth noting that the Tangerang City Government has guaranteed free schools in 142 private schools, namely 63 SD/Mi and 79 SMP/MTs in the 2026/2027 new academic year.

Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin said that free schools through the "Gampang Sekolah" program aim to provide equal access to quality education for all communities.

The program not only makes education free of charge in public schools, but also includes private schools that have cooperated with local governments.

"For this reason, parents of students do not need to be confused in choosing a school for their children because both public and private schools are equally good. There are also many good private schools in the City of Tangerang, even the Mayor of the City is also a graduate of a private school," said Mayor Sachrudin.
