Pentagon Lockdown, Allegedly There Are Hazardous Material Problems

WASHINGTON - A number of rooms at the Pentagon were reportedly "isolated" temporarily (lockdown). Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the system inside the Pentagon detected air quality problems that required precautions.

"The department is implementing standard protection protocols, including shelter orders in place for affected areas," Parnell said, quoted by CNN, Thursday, June 11.

"The handling team has been in place and is ready to help the building residents," he continued.

The Pentagon Force Protection Agency's hazardous materials response team is responding to the incident with the assistance of the Arlington County Fire Department.

A post on social media from the Arlington Fire & EMS said the Arlington County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team was operating at the Pentagon "during a hazardous materials incident."
