Australian Open 2026: Indonesian Women's Doubles Still Safe All

JAKARTA - Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari are still safe at the 2026 Australian Open. The two pairs won the second round to reach the quarterfinals.

Febriana/Meilysa first secured the ticket after successfully defeating the Polina Buhrova/Yevheniia Kantemyr pair in an easy two-game match 21-9 and 21-12 at the Quaycentre on Thursday, June 11, 2026, afternoon WIB.

This victory made Febriana/Meilysa beautify the win-loss record to 2-0 over the Ukrainian pair. One victory previously occurred at the 2026 All England in March, which took place in the rubber game.

"Today, we are definitely preparing ourselves more from the strategy and studying the video of playing against the opponent at All England," said Febriana in an official statement from the PBSI Public Relations received by the media.

Febriana/Meilysa, who are seeded seventh in Australia, will next face Low Zi Yu/Noraqilah Maisarah. The Malaysian pair qualified for the last eight after facing the hosts, Jazmine Lam/Yee Yuan Lim.

"After this, we will recover first, then add the spirit to the quarter-finals because the more the chapter rises, the opponent also becomes more difficult. Last year we were runners-up here, this year we want to be champions," said Febriana.

Meanwhile, Rachel/Febi passed the second round in Australia more dramatically. They had to fight three games to beat the Hong Kong pair, Lui Lok Lok/Tsang Hiu Yan, with a final score of 26-28, 21-18, and 21-13.

Rachel/Febi, who are ranked fifth in the BWF Super 500 event, will then face a big test against the third-ranked Gabriela Stoeva/Stefanie Stoeva from Bulgaria.

The two Indonesian women's doubles pairs who survived are last year's finalists. At that time, Rachel/Febi managed to win the fight to climb to the top of the podium.

This year, their chances of meeting again in the final round are open because they are in different draw paths. Rachel/Febi are in the upper half of the draw, while Febriana/Meilysa fill the lower half of the draw.
