Teacher Allowance Increases, Government Expands Scholarships for Teachers
Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has given instructions to increase allowances and scholarship requirements for teachers. This was conveyed by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti after meeting with President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, June 11.
According to Mu'ti, the government is committed to improving the quality of national education through increasing welfare and competence of teachers. In his statement after the meeting, Abdul Mu'ti said that the government had adjusted allowances for teachers.
The teacher allowance has once again been raised from that of non-ASN teachers, the allowance has been raised from Rp. 1.5 million to Rp. 2 million, and then the ASN teacher's allowance is equal to the basic salary. In addition, the government also implements a new mechanism in the distribution of the allowance which is directly transferred to the account of each teacher every month.
According to the Minister of Education and Culture, this is a tangible manifestation of the government's commitment to present a more simple and effective governance. In addition to improving welfare, the government is also committed to strengthening the quality of educators through a scholarship program for teachers.
Abdul Mu'ti said the program was also carried out through the Lampau Recognition of Learning (RPL) system.
Furthermore, the Minister of Education and Culture said that the program would still continue in 2026 with an allocation of 150,000 teachers with the same scholarship amount.
