China again asks US-Iran to stop attacking each other
China has again called on the United States and Iran to stop fighting and return to dialogue.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Thursday, June 11, that Beijing was "very" concerned about the situation.
Jian reminded that military conflict would only "worsen the situation" and continuing military action would not solve any fundamental problems.
"The sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of countries in the region must be respected and protected," Lin said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu.
He also urged the parties concerned to stop military action, continue dialogue and negotiations, respond to the mediation efforts of the countries concerned, and achieve an immediate ceasefire.
Lin said China has been in contact with relevant parties, including Iran, since the outbreak of the conflict. China has also been trying to promote peace talks.
Over the past two weeks, the US and Iran have periodically attacked as tensions have escalated across the region.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked 18 major American military targets in the Gulf in response to the American missile attack.
The US attack targeted recreational sites, industrial areas, and areas near Karaj and Nazarabad west of Tehran, as well as an IRGC base in Pishva County.
