US-Iran Peace Talks Reported to Continue Despite Mutual Attacks
JAKARTA - Peace talks between the United States and Iran are still on track despite the two countries resuming hostilities in recent days.
US President Donald Trump warned that his party would launch another attack if Iran did not immediately accept the peace deal offered.
In a statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said US forces attacked a number of military targets in Iran from Wednesday night to early Thursday, June 11.
CENTCOM called the attack a "defensive" action after an American military helicopter was shot down in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump previously said Iran had been negotiating for too long and should therefore bear the consequences.
Negotiations, which have been ongoing since an April ceasefire, have focused on efforts to reopen shipping access through the Strait of Hormuz as well as reaching an agreement on Iran's nuclear program.
The US-Iranian dialogue mediated by Pakistan is also focused on efforts to permanently end the war that began on February 28, 2026.
