Resilient in the Face of Uncertainty, Customs and Excise Revenue Remains Positive

JAKARTA - In the midst of global economic conditions that are still full of challenges and uncertainties, Indonesia's economy continues to show resilience and solid performance.

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) revealed that until May 2026, customs and excise revenue recorded positive performance with a total revenue of IDR 123.8 trillion.

This figure contributed 36.8 percent to the state budget and grew 0.7 percent compared to the same period last year (year on year), mainly driven by import duties and taxes.

Head of the Customs Public Relations and Guidance Subdirectorate, Budi Prasetiyo, said that the positive achievement in the revenue and supervision sector was inseparable from the support of stakeholders and public participation.

"We thank all parties, especially the public, for their cooperation in supporting the performance of the State Budget. This positive performance of receipt and supervision confirms the commitment of Customs in maintaining receipts, as well as protecting the public and securing the national economy," he concluded in his statement, Thursday, June 11.

Import duty receipts were recorded at Rp21.5 trillion or increased by 9.7 percent (year on year), supported by an increase in imports of raw materials and auxiliary materials which grew by 10.67 percent.

Meanwhile, the export customs revenue contracted 8.9 percent (year on year) to Rp11.9 trillion.

However, the trend of export duty receipts has begun to show improvement as CPO prices strengthened in March and April 2026.

Meanwhile, tax revenue reached Rp90.4 trillion or grew 0.2 percent (year on year), influenced by the increase in tobacco production in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition to contributing to state revenues, Customs also continues to carry out supervisory functions to protect the public and maintain the stability of the national economy from the circulation of illegal goods and smuggling practices.

Until April 2026, the Customs and Excise Service has carried out 5,451 actions against illegal cigarettes with a total amount of evidence reaching 684 million cigarettes, and 522 times of narcotics were carried out with a total amount of evidence reaching 3.31 tons of narcotics.
