TINS admits it has not yet operated 6 smelter seizures again

JAKARTA - PT Timah Tbk (TINS) conveyed that the 6 smelters seized by the government to its party are still not operational.

For your information, these six smelters are State Seizure Assets (BRN) and have been handed over to PT Timah on October 6, 2025.

"So we have 6 smelters seized, so 6 seized semel entrusted to Timah. To this day we have not been able to operate," said Vice President Director of PT Timah Harry Budi Sidharta when met in Jakarta, Thursday, June 11.

He added that clarity of the ownership status of the smelter was one of the factors that caused the company to not be able to carry out production activities with the confiscated goods in this corruption case.

Until now, these six smelters are still state-owned and have not been transferred to PT Timah.

"Well this is the risk for us, when we operate later, because we also need capex to run the 6 smelters. So the situation is that we are waiting for the process of transferring assets that are clear and clean from the government to PT Timah," continued Harry.

Furthermore, Harry also mentioned that the certainty of nickel ore supply is also still a stumbling block for restarting the smelter.

Harry said that an average smelter requires a supply of tin ore of 5,000 to 10,000 tons per year.

So to operate it, his party needs at least 50,000 to 60,000 tons of tin ore per year.

"So it's about 50,000 to 60,000 tons per year. Well, this is what we are still looking for the source of the ore," he explained.

Meanwhile, he continued, the smelter owned by PT Timah currently has a production capacity of 40,000 tons per year but only processes 20,000 tons.

"So actually we still have idle capacity as well. Because the seeds are still being searched. This is not, indeed, the plan was 40,000, it turned out to be 20,000," said Harry.
