Methamphetamine Addict Arrested by Police After Breaking into Grand Emerald Kelapa Gading Apartment Unit

JAKARTA - The Operations Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police Criminal Investigation Unit has uncovered a case of theft with a charge (curat) that occurred in one of the apartments in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta.

An actor with the initials EG (53) was arrested in the Green Lake Sunter Apartment area, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, after breaking into the Grand Emerald apartment unit in Kelapa Gading.

The perpetrator is known to be a theft specialist. He was arrested on Wednesday night, June 10, 2026.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police, AKP Kiki Tanlim, said that the disclosure of the case began with a report by the victim on behalf of Edi Mulijati regarding a theft that occurred in the apartment unit.

In the action, the perpetrator allegedly damaged the main door of the apartment using a small machete. The perpetrator damaged the door before entering and took a number of valuables belonging to the victim.

The goods stolen by the perpetrator were one unit of MacBook Air M2 and one unit of Samsung A05 mobile phone.

"After receiving the report, the team immediately carried out the crime scene, examined witnesses, and traced the CCTV footage at the scene," said AKP Kiki Tanlim when confirmed, Thursday, June 11, 2026.

From the results of intensive investigation, the identity of the perpetrator was successfully known and disseminated to the security network of the apartment in the North Jakarta area.

As a result, the Kelapa Gading Police Criminal Investigation Unit Opsnal Team received information about the whereabouts of someone with characteristics identical to the perpetrator at the Green Lake Sunter Apartment.

Furthermore, the Opsnal Team, which was directly led by the Criminal Investigation Unit, moved quickly to the location and managed to secure the perpetrator without resistance.

During the search, officers found evidence in the form of a small hatchet that was allegedly used to break into the apartment door as well as the clothes worn by the perpetrator while in action.

From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed theft at the Grand Emerald Apartment by damaging the door using a machete.

The perpetrator also admitted that he had sold the stolen goods to someone he did not know in the Poncol area, Senen, Central Jakarta, for a price of Rp. 1.1 million.

The money from the sale, according to the perpetrator's confession, was used for daily needs and to buy methamphetamine.
