Raker Bareng Menteri PU, Komisi V DPR Soroti Penanganan Bencana Sumatera Belum Optimal
JAKARTA - Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives held a working meeting (Raker) with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) regarding the discussion of the 2027 budget and the government's work plan (RKP) next year.
In his introduction, the Chairman of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Lasarus, conveyed several notes to the ministry led by Dody Hanggodo, one of which was related to the handling of the post-Sumatra disaster at the end of November 2025.
Lasarus admitted that he received reports from three affected areas regarding the still existing problems in temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) that had been built by the government.
"Regarding the handling of this disaster, Mr. Minister (Dody Hanggodo), we have a special note, Sir, there are still many complaints from the regions that have come here, whether we receive phone calls or WA (WhatsApp) as well as direct visits here from disaster areas, especially North Sumatra, then Aceh and West Sumatra. There are many complaints, especially related to huntara and huntap, Sir," said Lasarus.
In addition, said Lasarus, there were also complaints from local residents regarding public facilities that were still inadequate. "Then also public facilities that have not been handled well," he said.
Although there is a special body that has been formed to accelerate the rehabilitation of construction on the island of Sumatra, Lasarus said, the PU Ministry must still coordinate or synergize with related ministries/institutions.
The goal is that the existing complaints can be immediately handled by the government, especially since flash floods and landslides have occurred about seven months ago.
"We know that the Minister has a special body or special agency that has been formed by the government to handle this disaster, but nevertheless, where the authority of the Ministry of PU is, we can handle it, of course, this is also an opportunity to coordinate with the body that has been formed," said Lasarus.
"And of course there are aspects that have not been handled, we have to be there to ensure that this disaster handling can be quickly resolved," he concluded.
