Case of 6-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted in Kramat Pulo Jakpus Allegedly Contains Elements of Intrigue from the Victim's Friend

JAKRTA - A boy with the initials MWP (6) was electrocuted and lost consciousness in the Kramat Pulo Park area, Senen, Central Jakarta. The police are still investigating the intentional element in the incident which occurred on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The investigation is focused on uncovering whether the children involved knew about the electricity flowing into the pole where the victim was allegedly taken before the incident occurred.

Head of Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Rita Oktavia Shinta, said investigators were still collecting evidence and examining a number of witnesses to determine whether there was an element of intention.

"We are still investigating this, whether it was intentional or not. They knew that the pole had electricity, or he did not know that the pole had electricity. Well, we are still investigating it," said Rita when confirmed by the media crew, Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Rita explained, based on the initial information obtained by investigators, the victim was allegedly lifted by several of his playmates before his feet were inserted into the pole that was allegedly electrified. However, the police have not been able to conclude the motive or the children's understanding of the dangers at the scene.

According to Rita, the two children seen in the video footage circulating on social media have also not been examined. Investigators are still analyzing CCTV footage and collecting additional information to compile a complete chronology.

"It's still in the list. We are collecting evidence and witnesses," he said.

In the midst of the investigation process, MWP's condition was reported to have improved. After undergoing intensive care at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), the victim has now returned home.

"He has returned home. Yesterday we also visited him. Last night we visited him, he was fine, he was playing with his friends, he was cheerful," said Rita.

This case came to light after the MWP family reported the alleged bullying that the victim experienced while playing with a number of other children at Kramat Pulo Park on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The video recording that went viral on social media showed the victim being lifted by several children before being brought near a pole that was allegedly electrified.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a seizure and was unconscious before finally receiving medical treatment at RSCM. Handling the case is currently being carried out by the Sat PPA-PPO of the Central Jakarta Metro Police to uncover the actual facts behind the incident.
