Minister of Home Affairs Tito Requests Budget 2027 Plus Rp6.27 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has requested that the budget for 2027 be increased by Rp. 6.27 trillion from the indicative ceiling set by the Ministry of Finance and Bappenas of Rp. 4.65 trillion.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said the indicative ceiling had not met the needs of his ministry considering the national priority programs and other important tasks undertaken.

"Therefore, we see that there is a need for a budget, a proposal for additional budget needs of Rp. 6.27 trillion," said Tito in a working meeting with Commission II of the DPR, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 11.

He explained that the total indicative ceiling of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2027 had decreased by 40 percent compared to the budget allocation ceiling in 2026 which reached Rp. 7.8 trillion.

According to Tito, the calculation of the needs of the activity program to be held next year, the Ministry of Home Affairs needs an additional budget of Rp. 6.27 trillion so that the total budget ceiling is projected to be Rp. 10.93 trillion.

He explained that the strategic work of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2027 focuses on supporting the implementation of national priority programs in the regions, including post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction of Sumatra, the construction of three million houses, Merah Putih village/village cooperatives, acceleration of 3T regional development, and the eradication of tuberculosis.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, he said, also has activities that are mandatory and cannot be postponed, such as the selection of the recruitment of prospective officials, the selection of commissioners for organizing elections, as well as strengthening the administration of population and digital identity.

Meanwhile, Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives stated that it fully supported the proposed additional budget and would discuss it in depth at the next meeting.

Commission II asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to immediately convey the detailed matrix of priority programs that are directly affected by the budget efficiency policy in 2027 and immediately carry out intensive coordination with the Ministry of Finance and Bappenas.
