KAI Speeds Up the Closure of Sebidang Crossing, 172 Points Have Been Closed
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has accelerated the handling of a piece of crossing that has been one of the most accident-prone points for trains. So far, 172 crossings have been closed and hundreds more are in the process.
President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin said the development of the handling of a piece of crossing had been reported to President Prabowo Subianto in a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday, June 11.
"We have to make rapid progress for this crossing," said Bobby.
According to Bobby, in addition to the 172 points that have been closed, there are currently 490 crossings that are in the process of being closed.
Meanwhile, as many as 1,148 other points are being processed for the installation of gates as a step to increase safety.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the area with the most number of crossing handling is in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.
"Jakarta, Jabodetabek the most. There are 166," said Dudy.
The arrangement of a piece of crossing is a big job because the meeting point between the road and the rail is still one of the causes of accidents and train travel disruptions.
