Prabowo encourages HIPMI to enter into industrialization, not just be a market for other countries
BANDAR LAMPUNG - President Prabowo Subianto asked young Indonesian entrepreneurs to take a role in national industrialization and downstreaming.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia should not only be a market for other countries' products. Domestic commodities must be processed into value-added products in Indonesia.
"All of our commodities will be processed and become industries in Indonesia," said Prabowo when opening the XVIII HIPMI Congress in Bandar Lampung, Wednesday (10/6).
He said that downstreaming was a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs to grow and create jobs.
Prabowo also touched on the importance of Indonesian-made products. He said that after 81 years of independence, Indonesia must be able to have its own-made cars.
"The Indonesian market must be enjoyed by Indonesian sons and daughters," he said.
Prabowo admitted that he was now using Maung, a domestically produced vehicle, as a form of support for the national industry despite still having shortcomings.
"For the sake of nationalism, I will still use this car," said Prabowo.
