Iran Warns Gulf States Not to Allow Its Territory to be Used by the US for Aggression

JAKARTA - The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) on Wednesday stated that the Gulf countries are responsible for preventing the United States from using their territory as a base for attacks against Iran.

The American attack on Tuesday night (9/6) was a serious violation of the United Nations Charter (UN), according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which firmly condemns the crime of US military aggression against Iran, once again reminds all countries in the region, especially the countries on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, of their legal and moral responsibilities," the ministry's statement said, quoted by Press TV as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, June 10.

Iran asked these countries to prevent the use of the territory and facilities of the Gulf countries by the US military or Israel to plan, organize, carry out, or support an aggression against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also stressed that it would not hesitate to use its right to defend itself, including by attacking the source of the attack, bases, and logistics facilities used to support military operations against Iran.

In addition, Iran highlighted the responsibility of the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and the UN secretary-general in maintaining international peace and security, and called for those who violated international law to be held accountable.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Tuesday night said American forces had completed an attack on Iran in response to an attack on an American Apache helicopter.

According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian air defense facilities, ground control stations, and surveillance radar locations near the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump earlier said that the US-owned AH-64 Apache helicopter, which crashed off the coast of Oman, was shot down by Iran. Washington also responded. Both helicopter pilots were reportedly rescued.

CENTCOM then announced the start of a retaliatory attack against Iran following the helicopter incident.
