Pramono is confident that the increase in the price of Pertamax will make residents switch to public transportation.

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung believes that the recent increase in the price of Pertamax fuel will encourage more people to switch to public transportation.

At the same time, the DKI Provincial Government is trying to continue to increase the use of mass transportation, which is currently below 30 percent.

According to Pramono, Jakarta actually has a fairly integrated public transportation network. However, the level of utilization is still not comparable to the connectivity of the services that are already available.

"I will really campaign for public transportation. Our connectivity, as I said, is now 93 percent. But people continue to use public transportation only under 30 percent," said Pramono in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, 10 Menteng.

The former Cabinet Secretary assessed that the increase in the number of public transportation users was one of the keys to reducing congestion in Jakarta. Therefore, the local government will continue to encourage changes in public behavior to abandon private vehicles.

Pramono even sees the momentum of rising fuel prices as an opportunity to increase the number of public transportation users in Jakarta and the agglomeration area.

"Especially with this increase in fuel prices, people's opportunities to use public transportation will also increase," he said.

He emphasized that various facilities and conveniences have been prepared to attract public interest in using public transportation. In addition to increasingly connected services, a number of community groups also receive free facilities.

"Moreover, the 15 groups are free of charge. Whether it's parents, ASN, TNI, Polri, we are free of charge so that in Jakarta this matter related to public transportation is very good," said Pramono.

"There are also many choices, whether it's MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, Transjabodetabek, microtrans, JakLingko, and so on," he continued.
