Blessing at the Iduladha Moment, Hundreds of Ojol Drivers Prepare to Depart for Umrah

JAKARTA - The spirit of sharing and concern that is the soul of the Eid al-Adha celebration is still felt. Not a few people interpret this moment as a time to be grateful for sustenance and at the same time bring happiness to others.

Not only through sacrifices and various social activities, the spirit of sharing blessings can also be realized by opening the way for people to realize the dreams they have.

On the momentum of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, as many as 100 driver partners were announced as recipients of the free umrah program through the BERKAH Program (Departing Umrah).

This announcement completes the five recipients who have previously been announced in Ramadan 2026, so that a total of 105 driver partners from various regions in Indonesia will have the opportunity to perform the umrah in the program series.

This program is part of a series of initiatives aimed at driver partners throughout 2026. In addition to providing support in terms of welfare and skill development, this program is a form of appreciation that touches the personal and spiritual aspects of its recipients.

"Every day, Driver Partners travel, deliver passengers, food, and goods, while bringing the value of goodness in every interaction. This program is one of our ways to appreciate the journey," he said.

"Through this program, we also want to present a sign of love as a sincere expression of gratitude to Driver Partners who not only have achievements, but also dedicate their lives to helping and inspiring others," said Neneng Goenadi as CEO of Grab Indonesia in a statement to VOI, Wednesday, June 10.

Neneng added that this program is in the same pillar as the Eid Bonus (BHR) that has previously been given to driver partners.

"We want to ensure that the appreciation for Driver Partners is not only present at one point, but also continues in a form that is relevant to their needs and momentum of life. After BHR at the momentum of Idulfitri, the BERKAH Program is present before Eid al-Adha as a form of continuous appreciation for Driver Partners," he continued.

The sharing of blessings program is carried out through a competition which took place from April 1 to May 15, 2026. Two-wheeled and four-wheeled driver partners from various operational areas have the opportunity to participate in this program with assessments adjusted based on city clusters.

The mechanism is designed so that participants from big cities and regions with smaller operational scales have equal opportunities.

The assessment is based on a number of indicators, including the number of completed trips, online hours, active days, and order completion rate. The number of orders is the main factor in the selection process for the program's recipients.

More than just numbers, the 105 recipients of this program carry diverse stories of struggle. The five names announced earlier during Ramadan are a picture of how the profession of drivers often goes hand in hand with social contributions in the community.

There is Mpok Fika who is active as a volunteer sign language interpreter and part of the deaf partner community. There is also Jonathan who is known to be active in fostering communities in the outskirts of Manado.

Yusuf founded a volunteer community to help disadvantaged families, the elderly, and small traders. Meanwhile, Syamsudin continues to work to support his family despite having physical limitations, and Yunus has managed to improve his family's economic status through the profession he is engaged in.

The other hundred recipients announced ahead of Eid al-Adha also come from various cities with different backgrounds and life journeys. They represent thousands of partners who work every day to serve the community in various areas.

One of the program's recipients, Mpok Fatmasari, admitted that he never imagined having the opportunity to go to the Holy Land.

"I am very happy and grateful for the BERKAH (Departure to Umrah) program from Grab. Previously, I never imagined being able to go to the Holy Land and perform the umrah. This opportunity motivates me to be more enthusiastic to pick up and accept orders, as well as a reminder to continue to worship better," explained Mpok Fatmasari.

The departure of the program recipients will be carried out gradually throughout 2026 by following the applicable provisions and schedules. During the umrah, they will be accompanied by an official travel partner and an official travel partner.

For many recipients, this opportunity is not only about traveling to the Holy Land, but also a form of appreciation for the hard work they have been through.
