Four TNI Personnel Face Trial Verdict for Water Sprinkling Case of KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus
JAKARTA - The Military Court II-08 Jakarta held a reading of the verdict against four members of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) who were defendants in the alleged case of abuse in the form of pouring hard water on the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, on Wednesday, June 10.
The four defendants who face the green table are Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, First Lieutenant (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Lettu Sami Lakka, and Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko.
Based on the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the Jakarta Military Court II-08, the sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place starting at 09.00 WIB in the Garuda Courtroom.
The trial of this crucial trial was directly led by the Chief Judge of the Corps of Law (Chk) Colonel Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto.
Previously, the Military Audit had filed criminal charges of 2 years and 6 months in prison for each of the four TNI personnel.
The Military Audit believes that the defendants are proven to be legally and convincingly guilty of committing a serious act of persecution that has been planned in advance together.
"Everyone who participated in the persecution with a prior plan that resulted in serious injuries," reads the Military Audit's conviction in its lawsuit.
The actions of the TNI personnel who had planned this action of spraying with hard water were considered as actions that a soldier should not do.
Moreover, they knowingly knew that the chemical liquid could cause severe burns to the victim's body.
For their actions, the four defendants are threatened with criminal penalties as stipulated in Article 469 paragraph (1) or Article 468 paragraph (1) or Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) jo. Article 20 letter C of the National Criminal Code (KUHP).
Based on the indictment file, this desperate act was triggered by the defendants' anger at Andrie Yunus's actions.
They argued that the action of spraying hard water was aimed at giving a lesson and a deterrent effect so that the activists of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) would no longer slander the TNI institution in the public sphere.
Andrie's attitude, which was seen as having harassed the military institution, began on March 16, 2025, when he forced his way in and interrupted the meeting to revise the TNI Law in Jakarta.
The anger of the defendants increased as Andrie then sued the TNI Law to the Constitutional Court, accusing the TNI of intimidation at the KontraS office, accusing the military of being the mastermind of the riots in late August 2025, and was considered to have vigorously launched an anti-militarism narrative.
