West Java Police Names 3 Suspects in Karawang Gay Party
BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police has named three people as suspects in a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) group party at the Theater Night Mart nightclub, Karawang Regency.
Head of Public Relations of West Java Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, said his party moved quickly to follow up on the circulating video which featured a number of men performing a friendly scene inside a nightclub.
"Finally we secured three suspected perpetrators of this same-sex obscene act, namely brothers SA, RD, and DD. Currently, we are conducting intensive examinations of the perpetrators who were recorded in the circulating video," said Hendra as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 9.
Hendra said investigators had also examined seven witnesses, including the owner of the nightclub, to investigate the case that went viral on social media.
The results of the investigation showed that the video was recorded on Sunday (7/6) at around 01.00 WIB.
The police then carried out further investigations by examining a number of witnesses, including the owner of the nightclub.
Hendra explained that investigators had coordinated with the prosecutor's office regarding the application of the article suspected of being committed by the alleged perpetrators.
"From the results of this coordination, we reached an agreement, namely Article 406 and Article 414 of the Criminal Code. Article 406 is related to indecent acts in public places and in front of others with a threat of two years and six months. Then Article 414 is related to obscene acts with a threat of nine years," he said.
Previously, the public was shocked by the circulation of a 12-second video that allegedly recorded a same-sex party at a nightclub in Karawang Regency.
In the video, a number of men are seen dancing in pairs, hugging, and kissing in the area of a nightclub.
