Jibom Gegana Team Destroys 8 Bombs Left Over from World War II in Biak
JAYAPURA - The Gegana Brimob bomb disposal team (Jibom) of the Papua Police destroyed eight World War II (PD) bombs found at the scene of the crime (TKP) on Jalan Walter Monginsidi, Biak Numfor Regency.
The Biak Numfor Police Chief AKBP Ari Trestiawan said that after destroying the bomb left over from World War II, which was found at the scene of the explosion of the bomb that killed six people and three others were missing.
"The destruction of the bombs left over from World War II was carried out on Monday (8/6) at the shooting range of Kompi 4 Yon A Pelopor in Biak. All bombs left over from World War II that were found at the crime scene have been destroyed or disposed of and the destruction took place safely," said Ari Trestiawandilansir ANTARA, Tuesday, June 9.
Ari said that in addition to the destruction of evidence in the form of bombs, the search for three residents who were reported missing had also been stopped and the crime scene was declared sterile of explosives.
Currently, said Ari, his party is still waiting for the results of the DNA examination conducted by Puslabfor Mabes Polri in Jakarta, including an examination to find out the type of bomb material that exploded on May 31, 2026.
"Hopefully the results of the DNA examination can be accepted immediately, so that his party can inform the victim's family," said Biak Numfor Police Chief AKBP Ari Trestiawan.
