KPK Reveals Account in the Name of OB Used to Cover Procurement Money in Muara Enim

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that the accounts of office boys and a number of employees in the Muara Enim Regency Government (Pemkab) are used to store bribe money.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when informing the results of the hand-in-hand operation (OTT) that ensnared Muara Enim Regent Edison on Monday, June 8. The account is suspected of being a collector of money from private parties related to procurement projects.

"There are those in the name of OB, then several employees in the scope of the Regency Government, there are also using accounts," Budi told reporters at the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 9.

Not only that, the suspects are also suspected of using the modus operandi of opening and closing accounts to disguise the flow of money. After the balance in the account was distributed, they opened a new account.

This condition is what makes the team then secure a number of accounts containing money to foreign exchange money (foreign exchange).

"Yes, why are these accounts also secured? Because these parties are preparing a deposit account to accommodate the alleged receipt from private parties, related to procurements in the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government, this is one of them in the Education and Culture Service," said Budi.

In this case, the KPK seized evidence in the form of cash and account balances in various currencies totaling around Rp2 billion. The money consists of rupiah, United States dollars, to riyals.

The KPK is also still investigating the possibility of gifts in the form of goods related to procurement in the Muara Enim Regency Government.

Meanwhile, Budi said that until now investigators had not carried out a search related to the case. The hand-in-hand operation, which has been held since Monday, June 8, was carried out with the support of the Corruption Crime Corps (Kortas Tipidkor) of the National Police.

Of the 10 people who were secured in the OTT, the KPK named four people as suspects. They are currently undergoing an examination at the KPK Red and White Building.

The construction of the case in full and the identities of the suspects will be conveyed by the KPK in an official press conference.
