Tok! Cisem II Pipe Officially Fully Operational
JAKARTA - The Ruas Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) Natural Gas Transmission Pipe is now officially fully operational.
The Cisem pipe is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) which is built entirely using the State Budget (APBN) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in order to support national energy security.
Director General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Laode Sulaeman said that the commissioning of Cisem II is an important achievement in the development of national energy infrastructure.
"This infrastructure will increase the flexibility of gas distribution and strengthen the reliability of energy supply. We appreciate all parties who have collaborated so that this strategic project can be completed and operated properly," said Laode, quoted Tuesday, June 9.
This massive infrastructure is designed to strengthen the integration of the national natural gas transmission network from Sumatra Island to Java. The Cisem II pipeline is built with a length of about 242 kilometers connecting Batang, Central Java, to East Kandang Haur, West Java, and is an important link in the national natural gas transmission system.
The commissioning at the East Kandang Haur is a continuation of a series of commissioning that has been carried out previously in mid-March 2026 at the Batang Integrated Industrial Area (KITB), Central Java.
He added, this stage is carried out to ensure the operational readiness of the system as a whole until it is connected to the existing Pertagas operating facilities in East Kandang Haur. The connectivity of the national natural gas transmission network will be stronger with the operation of the Cisem II Pipe.
This integration increases the flexibility of gas distribution from various supply sources to energy demand centers, strengthens the reliability of the system, and supports the optimal utilization of domestic natural gas to meet the needs of industry, power plants, refineries, fertilizers, and other strategic sectors.
The Commercial Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk Aldiansyah Idham on the occasion also conveyed that the commissioning of Cisem II is an important momentum for the development of an increasingly integrated national natural gas system.
"This success is the result of the synergy of all stakeholders and is an important milestone in optimizing the utilization of natural gas to support Indonesia's energy needs," said Aldiansyah.
Director of Planning and Infrastructure Development of Oil and Gas Agung Kuswardono on the same occasion also explained the technical aspects and socio-economic contributions of the development of this gas infrastructure project.
"This project is not only physically successful, but also an example of the implementation of Good Corporate Governance and high occupational safety. We have recorded a cumulative safe working hours of 4,659,090 hours without any fatal incidents (zero accident). In addition, during the peak construction period from June to July 2025, this project absorbed a maximum of 1,981 people. In terms of industrial independence, the self-assessment results recorded a level of absorption of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 60.58 percent, which is currently in the final verification process," said Agung.
To ensure the optimal management of state assets, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has also issued Ministerial Decree number 125.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2026 dated March 13, 2026 which assigns LEMIGAS as the manager of the Cisem II Pipeline. Furthermore, in April 2026 through the process of selecting strategic partners by LEMIGAS, Pertagas was officially appointed as the operator of the Cisem II Pipeline, continuing Pertagas' successful role in the Cisem I Pipeline which has been operating since 2023.
Pertagas President Director Indra P. Sembiring said that the commissioning at the East Kandang Haur marked the full operational readiness of the Cisem II system, which has now been connected to Pertagas' operating facilities.
"As an operator appointed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Pertagas has prepared facilities, infrastructure, and personnel spread from East Java to West Java to ensure the operation of this infrastructure runs safely, reliably, and optimally," concluded Indra.
The main supply source of Pipa Cisem II in the initial stage of gas flow comes from the Jambaran Tiung Biru Field (JTB). The presence of gas flow from JTB through this integrated interconnection is expected to immediately spur the productivity of strategic industrial areas, including the Batang Integrated Industrial Area (KITB).
