The Attorney General's Office Arrested the Employee of the South Kalimantan ESDM Service for IUP Extortion of IDR 1.2 Billion
BANJARBARU - The joint team of the Special Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Unit (Pidsus) at the South Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Kalsel) together with the Tabalong Prosecutor's Office arrested an employee of the Energy and Mineral Resources Service (ESDM) of the Kalsel Province for alleged corruption in the extortion of a mining business permit (IUP) of Rp. 1.2 billion.
"The suspect with the initials HPW as an evaluator at the Mineral and Coal Mining Sector asked for money from the IUP applicants," said Kajari Tabalong Anggara Suryanagara in Banjarbaru, Monday, June 8, reported by ANTARA.
Angga explained that the suspect's actions were carried out from 2023 to 2025.
Each applicant for an IUP in the Tabalong Regency area was threatened with an unissued permit if they did not pay a certain amount of money in rupiah, which the suspect had collected amounted to Rp. 1.2 billion.
Based on this fact, the suspect HPW is suspected of violating the rules of Article 12 letter e of Law No. 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes which reads "Civil servants or state administrators who, with the intention of benefiting themselves or others illegally, or by abusing their authority, force someone to give something, pay or receive payments with deductions, or to do something for themselves".
To complete the evidence, the prosecutor's investigators have also conducted searches at a number of places such as the South Kalimantan ESDM Office and the suspect's private house in Banjarbaru.
Investigators managed to seize several documents including a number of assets belonging to the suspect.
The Head of Legal Information at the South Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office, Yuni Priyono, added that the development of the investigation into the case being handled would be conveyed again, including whether or not a detention was carried out against the suspect.
