Yemen Houthi bans Israel from crossing the Red Sea

JAKARTA - The Yemeni Houthi group has banned Israeli-owned ships from sailing in the Red Sea and threatened that all Israeli-related ships that still pass through the sea area would be their targets.

In a statement on Monday, June 8, the group said it had carried out a missile attack on a sensitive Israeli target in the Jaffa area, while claiming that the missile attack had reached its target with precision.

The attack on Israel, according to the Houthi group, was a retaliatory action against Zionist aggression in Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen.

"We are determined to respond to escalation with escalation and our military operations will be increased in accordance with developments in the field, battles, and in conjunction with the axis of jihad and resistance," the statement said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu.

The group from Yamanitu emphasized that it would not remain silent in the face of "unjust siege" carried out against its people and the people of the jihad axis, as well as the resistance in Palestine, Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq.

Previously, Israeli authorities temporarily closed their airspace after intercepting a missile launched from Yemen, Channel 12 Israel reported.

The development comes after Iran launched a series of missiles towards northern Israel on Sunday night (7/6) after Israel attacked southern Beirut.

Israel then launched an attack on western and central Iran, with a number of explosions reported in Iranian cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, and Tabriz.
