3.246 Complaints of Illegal Parking Enter DKI Provincial Government, Dishub Starts Massive Operation in 15 Points in Jakarta
JAKARTA - Illegal parking is now the second biggest complaint of Jakarta residents after road problems. During the last reporting period, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) received 3,246 public complaints related to illegal parking practices spread across various areas of the capital.
The high number of reports prompted the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) to hold a joint operation to enforce illegal parking simultaneously starting Monday, June 8. A total of 600 personnel were deployed to target 15 points that have been considered prone to violations.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Traffic Management Office Budi Awaluddin said that the issue of illegal parking is still one of the most complained about problems by Jakarta residents.
"Illegal parking and illegal parking attendants are one of the problems complained about by the public. Based on CRM data, there are 3,246 public reports related to illegal parking and occupy second place in public reports," said Budi at a joint appeal for illegal parking enforcement at the South Plaza of Monas, Central Jakarta, Monday, June 8.
According to Budi, the most complaints are still related to road issues, which reached 5,246 reports. However, the high number of complaints about illegal parking shows that the problem has not been optimally handled and still impacts the mobility of residents.
Not only a complaint from the public, illegal parking is also still in the public spotlight. Based on media monitoring results throughout May 2026, the issue of illegal parking appeared in 253 news reports with negative sentiments.
Budi assessed that the condition could not be left because the road was a public facility that should be used to support community movement, not to become an illegal parking area.
"The road is a public facility that must be used for community mobility, not a parking location that hinders traffic flow," he said.
On the first day of the operation, officers moved from the Gambir area to Jalan MH Thamrin, Dukuh Atas-Sudirman, Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto towards Cikini to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) area.
Four-wheeled vehicles that were found parked in prohibited locations were immediately towed. Meanwhile, two-wheeled vehicles were subjected to Operation Cabut Pentil (OCP) as a form of enforcement in the field.
Budi ensured that the enforcement operation was not carried out incidentally. In the first week, the operation took place every day until Sunday, June 14. Furthermore, the frequency of enforcement will be adjusted before a thorough evaluation is carried out.
"We will do this for one week, from Monday to Sunday, June 14. After that we will evaluate the results of this crackdown," explained Budi.
A total of 15 locations have been designated as priority points for enforcement. In West Jakarta, operations target the Cengkareng, Kalideres, and Kembangan areas. Central Jakarta includes Kebon Sirih, Wahid Hasyim, and Thamrin City.
Meanwhile, in South Jakarta, the order was carried out on Casablanca Street, Rasuna Said Street, and Dr. Satrio Street. For North Jakarta, it targets Kelapa Gading, Pademangan, and Tanjung Priok. Meanwhile, East Jakarta is focused on East Jatinegara, West Jatinegara, and around Jatinegara Station.
Dishub also reminded the public not to park vehicles carelessly or use the services of illegal parking attendants who take advantage of the road body.
"We appeal to the public not to park in places that are not in place. We will be present, we will tow, and we will remove the throttle to take action," he said.
Through this ongoing operation, the DKI Provincial Government hopes that the practice of illegal parking, which has contributed to congestion on a number of roads, can be suppressed.
