Digital Transformation Drives Safer and More Efficient Health Services

JAKARTA - The development of medical technology in recent years has not only changed the way health workers provide services to patients, but also increased safety standards in the treatment process.

Hospital system digitization, electronic medical record integration, and the use of smart devices are part of the ongoing transformation in various countries, including Indonesia.

One of the main focuses in current health innovations is to minimize the risk of medication errors while improving the efficiency of medical personnel.

The presence of devices that are able to connect digitally with the hospital system is considered to help the process of monitoring patients to be more accurate, fast, and integrated.

In line with this development, German medical technology company B. Braun Indonesia has started producing the Compactplus series at its manufacturing facility located in Cikampek, Karawang, West Java.

The series includes Infusomat® Compactplus, Infusomat® Compactplus P, and Perfusor® Compactplus which are designed to support more precise infusion therapy.

This step also marks the strengthening of the production capacity of health equipment in the country by presenting technology that has previously been known to be used in various international health facilities.

The local production is also supported by the achievement of the Cikampek manufacturing facility which has obtained ISO 13485:2016 certification after undergoing an audit by TÜV SÜD. This certification is one of the international standards used to ensure the quality management system in the medical device industry.

One of the advantages of the Compactplus series lies in the Drug Library feature, a digital system that helps ensure the administration of the correct dose of the drug according to the parameters that have been set. This technology is designed to support patient safety while reducing the potential for errors in the therapy process.

The device has also supported connectivity with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system through the OneViewPlus platform.

With this integration, medical personnel can monitor patient therapy in real-time, perform automatic documentation, and update medical data remotely without disturbing patient comfort.

"Indonesia is a priority market for B. Braun. The presence of this local production of Compactplus is a tangible manifestation of our global technology transfer to support the digitization of hospitals in Indonesia," said Rainer Ruppel, President Director of B. Braun Indonesia.

In addition to prioritizing the aspect of technology, this device is also designed with an intuitive user interface and is equipped with visual guides on the screen.

This approach is intended to facilitate the use of the device by health workers, especially in clinical environments that require rapid decision-making.

"ISO 13485 certification guarantees that every unit produced at the Cikampek facility has the same safety and quality standards as other B. Braun global products."

With a simpler administrative process, medical personnel are expected to allocate more time to focus on patient care.

In terms of industry, the production of the Compactplus series also shows an increase in the contribution of local components in the national health equipment sector. Currently, the product has reached a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of between 40 and 46 percent, exceeding the minimum limit set by the government.

The entire production process is also carried out in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and supported by Good Manufacturing Practice (CPOB) certification from the Indonesian Food and Drug Agency and Good Distribution of Health Equipment (CDAKB) from the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

The development and production of medical technology in the country is considered an important step to strengthen the independence of the national health industry as well as supporting the digital transformation of hospitals in the future.
