Bahlil Opens the Opportunity for Coal Production Relaxation When Global Prices Strengthen
JAKARTA - The government is opening the opportunity for relaxation of coal production and other mining commodities if global prices are strengthening. The policy will be carried out in a measured manner so that supply and demand are maintained.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said the government continues to monitor geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and global price fluctuations.
"We pay close attention to geopolitical trends, tensions in the Middle East with global price fluctuations," Bahlil said at the DPR building, Monday, June 8.
According to Bahlil, when commodity prices are good, production can be increased so that economic benefits are felt by entrepreneurs, the state, and the community.
"If the price is good, we will increase production. If the price starts to stagnate, we will also make policies so that we can maintain supply and demand," he said.
He said that the relaxation would not be done carelessly. The government will continue to monitor the development of prices and market needs.
Bahlil said the policy on mine production must benefit business actors, state revenues, and the community.
