Charlie Puth Announces Concert Cancellation for Recovery
JAKARTA - Charlie Puth was forced to cancel his solo concert in Orlando, Florida, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday night local time.
Through a post on his personal Instagram Story, the musician who has received four Grammy nominations explained that the difficult decision was made for the sake of the continuation of the rest of his long tour schedule. The medical team has instructed Puth to rest completely so that his physical condition does not get worse.
"I'm so devastated to have to do this, but I'm forced to cancel tonight's show," Puth wrote in a statement on his social media.
The 34-year-old musician emphasized that performing in front of his loyal fans was his top priority. However, physical limitations make him unable to give the maximum performance on stage.
"I have been sick for the past few days and am now instructed to rest, or else I risk canceling more dates on this tour," the musician said.
"Performing for you all every night is everything to me, and you deserve the best. I'm so heartbroken, but physically I'm not able to perform. Without a voice, I can't give you the show you deserve," he continued.
At the end of his statement, Puth also hopes that his condition will improve and he can greet fans from the stage.
The cancellation comes amid the success of the Whatever's Clever! world tour, which was held to promote his fourth studio album with the same title.
The global tour series has started since April 22 in San Diego and is planned to end on July 30 in Warsaw, Poland.
Although he had to miss the show in Orlando, Charlie Puth is scheduled to still have a number of concert agendas in the United States before departing for Europe. Some major cities on the list for the first half of June include Nashville on June 9, Austin on June 11, Irving on June 12, and Houston on June 13.
