BYD Indonesia Clarifies Video of Fire at Subang Factory Project

JAKARTA - A short video shows thick smoke which is suspected to be a BYD factory. The video was shared by the instagram media social account @ckpinfo, the narrative that circulated was allegedly due to cigarette butts.

Responding to the above, VOI tried to confirm this Chinese manufacturer. Head of Public & Government Relations PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, also spoke up.

"BYD Indonesia is aware of the incident that occurred in one of the buildings which is currently still in the construction phase in the BYD Subang project area," he said, when confirmed, Saturday, June 6.

According to him, the incident was a small fire that occurred on the roof of the building and caused smoke to appear. The situation was successfully controlled in a short time and there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.

"The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Meanwhile, we have instructed the contractor to further strengthen the implementation of safety protocols and standards throughout the project area," he said.

"Regarding the ongoing investigation process, we cannot provide further information at this stage," he added.

In the Instagram post @ckpinfo, although it caused panic among workers, there have been no reports of casualties in the incident.
