BNI - PBSI Print New Generation of Champions, Raymond/Joaquin Advance to the 2026 Indonesia Open Final

JAKARTA - Long-term commitment in building national sports achievements has again shown tangible results. The young Indonesian men's doubles pair, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, managed to advance to the 2026 Indonesia Open final after recording a series of impressive victories over the world's top pairs.

This achievement is proof that the coaching process for athletes run by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) with the continued support of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is able to produce young talents who are ready to compete at the highest level in the world.

In the midst of increasingly intense international badminton competition, the success of Raymond/Joaquin not only brings pride to Indonesia, but also strengthens optimism about the sustainability of national badminton achievements through planned and sustainable regeneration.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said Raymond/Joaquin's achievement is proof that long-term investment in the development of young Indonesian talent is beginning to show concrete results.

"The success of Raymond and Joaquin is proof that world achievements are born from a consistent, collaborative, and sustainable coaching process. Support for PBSI, for BNI is a long-term investment to produce superior Indonesian generations who are able to achieve and bring glory to the nation on the world stage.

"We are proud to see Indonesian young athletes grow, develop, and be able to compete with the best players in the world. This achievement also strengthens the belief that with the right coaching ecosystem, Indonesia will continue to produce a generation of champions who maintain the tradition of national badminton achievements," said Okki.

In the final match, Raymond/Joaquin will face the Malaysian pair, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, who previously defeated the South Korean pair, Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae.

Raymond/Joaquin's journey to the final was impressive. One of their important achievements was the victory over the world's second-ranked Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. The victory is proof of the capacity of the young Indonesian pair to compete and put pressure on the world's elite players.

The positive momentum continued in the quarterfinal when Raymond/Joaquin managed to defeat the Japanese pair, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, through a fierce three-game battle. In the match, both showed maturity in the game, calmness in facing pressure, and high fighting spirit which became an important capital to compete at the highest level.

Even though they are relatively young compared to their rivals, Raymond/Joaquin were able to show competitive game quality, strong fighting mentality, and champion character which are important foundations for the future of Indonesian badminton.

Their success in reaching the 2026 Indonesia Open final is also a positive signal that the regeneration process carried out by PBSI is on the right track. This achievement also shows that coaching that is carried out continuously is able to produce young athletes who are ready to continue the tradition of Indonesian achievements on the world stage.

Appreciation for Rachel/Febi

BNI also appreciates the extraordinary struggle of the Indonesian young women's doubles pair, Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, who managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2026 Indonesia Open.

Facing the world's number one pair from China, Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning, Rachel/Febi was competitive and put up a fierce fight before finally having to admit defeat to their opponents with a score of 17-21, 16-21.

According to Okki, the achievement of the semifinals in the Super 1000 level tournament is a valuable experience that will accelerate their maturity process as world elite athletes.

"Rachel and Febi have shown fighting spirit, courage, and game quality that deserve to be appreciated. Facing the world number one pair is certainly not an easy challenge, but they were able to perform competitively and give the best fight. We are optimistic that this experience will be an important asset for their future development," said Okki.

The success of reaching the semifinals is proof that the Indonesian women's doubles sector also has great potential to continue to develop and compete at the world elite level. With their young age and ongoing coaching process, Rachel/Febi are expected to be an important part of the future of Indonesia's badminton achievements.

As a strategic partner of PBSI, BNI has consistently supported the development of the national badminton ecosystem, ranging from early childhood development, talent development, to support for athletes to the world elite level. This commitment is part of BNI's contribution in building superior human resources who are able to make Indonesia more competitive at the global level.

Okki emphasized that BNI will continue to support the efforts of PBSI in strengthening the foundation of national athlete training so that Indonesia continues to produce generations of champions in the future.

"BNI believes that international achievements are not born instantly, but through a continuous coaching process. Therefore, we are committed to continue supporting PBSI in creating an ecosystem that allows young Indonesian athletes to develop and reach their best potential.

"Support for sports development is part of BNI's contribution in preparing Indonesia's superior generation who are able to achieve, globally competitive, and make the nation's name shine on the world stage," concluded Okki.

For BNI, every achievement of Indonesian athletes is not only a victory in the arena of competition, but also a reflection of the success of long-term investment in the development of the Indonesian youth generation. The success of Raymond/Joaquin in reaching the final and the achievement of Rachel/Febi to the semifinals of the Indonesia Open 2026 is proof that a strong collaboration between the world of sports and the business world is able to produce sustainable achievements while strengthening Indonesia's position as one of the main forces in the world of badminton.
