NHM Wins Environmental, Reclamation and Mangrove Awards as Assessments
TOBELO - PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) again won an award in the environmental sector from the North Halmahera Regency Government. The gold mining company was considered active in contributing to various environmental protection programs, both in the mine operation area and outside the mine area.
The award was handed over directly by the Regent of North Halmahera Piet Hein Babua in the commemoration of the 23rd Anniversary of North Halmahera Regency in Tobelo, Tuesday (2/6).
The award was given based on a number of environmental management programs carried out by NHM consistently. Among them are the management of hazardous and toxic materials (LB3), reclamation and revegetation of post-mining land, and the involvement of companies in various environmental activities with local governments and communities.
In addition, NHM is also considered to contribute to environmental preservation programs through assistance in planting forestry plants, support for mangrove planting, and participation in the North Halmahera Regency Environmental Day activities.
Deputy Director of Operations and Head of Mine Engineering (KTT) of NHM, Rara Dodo Lawolo, said the award was the result of the joint work of all elements of the company.
"Alhamdulillah and we should be grateful. NHM received an award for its contribution to environmental management in and outside the mine area. This is the result of our hard work, not only the environmental team, but also good collaboration across departments," said Rara Dodo Lawolo in a written statement received, Saturday (6/6).
NHM Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Widi Wijaya, said the award was an acknowledgment of the company's consistency in carrying out good and responsible mining practices.
According to Widi, the award is the second appreciation received by NHM in a row.
"This award is one of the proofs that NHM is committed to implementing the principles of good mining practice in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. NHM will continue to show real commitment in improving environmental quality sustainably so that environmental impacts can remain under control," said Widi.
He added that the award was also a material for evaluation for companies to continue to strengthen environmental management and encourage sustainable mining practices.
NHM assesses that the success of environmental management is not only determined by compliance with regulations, but also by collaboration between companies, governments, and communities.
The award, which was won for the second time in a row, according to the company, is an incentive to continue to improve environmental performance while strengthening contributions to sustainable development in North Halmahera. (ADV)
