Pram considers freeing tourist attractions during Jakarta's Independence Day

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he was considering making a number of tourist destinations managed by the local government free of charge, including Ancol, Ragunan Wildlife Park, museums, and libraries on the DKI Jakarta Anniversary (HUT).

"For tourism places owned and managed by the DKI Jakarta Government, we will consider making them free, for example, entering Ancol, entering Ragunan, then the existing museums, libraries, and so on," said Pramono as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 6.

Although it has not been able to detail this, it has been confirmed that it will provide free public transportation services for the community at certain moments leading up to the Jakarta Anniversary.

The man, who is familiarly called Pramitu, also emphasized that the details of the implementation would be announced before the celebration day.

"Later we will hold it, right before the 22nd, we will definitely announce it," said Pramono.

Not only that, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will also inaugurate a number of public projects and facilities ahead of the 499th anniversary of DKI Jakarta on June 22, 2026.

Pramonenyebut one of the projects that will be inaugurated, namely the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, which is currently in the arrangement stage.

He said the area had been revitalized into a corridor that was more friendly to pedestrians and public transportation users with the arrangement of stops and the improvement of intermodal transportation connectivity. Rasuna Said was also used as an addition to green space.

In addition, Pramono will inaugurate Rasuna Said as the location for the implementation of Car Free Day (CFD) outside the Sudirman-Thamrin area on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Then, he continued, the DKI Provincial Government will inaugurate the KRL station serving the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) area, North Jakarta.

The presence of the station is expected to facilitate public access to JIS.

Other projects that will be inaugurated include a bridge connecting JIS and Ancol, which was built to unite the Ancol and JIS tourist areas so as to facilitate visitor mobility.
